7 reasons why people cheat

Cheating in a relationship can sabotage it completely and even affect your partner seriously. They might go through a variety of emotions ranging from anxiety to depression. On top of that, if you try to justify your deed, they might get even more upset. Despite all this, there could be several reasons behind a person cheating on their partner. How justified they are depends completely on the person who has been cheated on. Here are 7 reasons why people cheat.

1.Anger or revenge

Many times, people cheat out of anger or a desire to get revenge. Maybe you just discovered your partner cheated. You are stunned and hurt. You might want to make your partner go through the same emotions so they really understand the pain they caused you.

2.Unhappiness in the marriage

People often enter marriage with the expectation that his or her spouse will fulfil all their needs. When they begin to see that the spouse cannot live up to an expectation so high, they start to seek it elsewhere, often starting a series of unhealthy relationships.

3.Falling out of love

The feeling of falling in love with someone generally doesn’t last forever. The intensity of passion and excitement usually fades over time. Once the glitter fades, you might realize that the love just isn’t there. Or maybe you realize you are in love with someone else.

4.Physical or emotional distance

Maybe a spouse works long hours and is rarely home, and the other feels neglected. Or, the spouse may be physically present, but emotionally unavailable. The other tries to connect but the spouse has emotionally withdrawn. This often leads to the other attempting to find someone who is emotionally and physically present.

5.Commitment issues

People who have a hard time with commitment may be more likely to cheat in some cases. Plus, commitment doesn’t mean the same thing to everyone. Two people in a relationship can have very different ideas about the relationship’s status, such as whether it’s casual or exclusive.

6.Sexual dissatisfaction

Often sexual dissatisfaction in one’s relationship tempts people to try to find satisfaction elsewhere instead of trying to work through any sexual discontent together with their spouse.

7.Low self-esteem

Wanting a boost to self-esteem can also motivate infidelity. Having sex with a new person can lead to positive feelings. You might feel empowered, attractive, confident, or successful. These feelings can build up your self-esteem.
