Newborn baby discovered under Ilorin bridge


Operatives of the Kwara State Police Command, on Friday discovered a newborn baby under a bridge in IIorin, the state capital.

The baby was found abandoned under the Oke-Foma bridge, Ita-Nma area of Ilorin metropolis.

The baby was abandoned by an unidentified person, was evacuated by the police operatives at about 12.10pm on Friday.

DAILY POST could not confirm whether the abandoned baby was dead or alive at the time of evacuation.

However, in a phone chat with our correspondent on friday, spokesman of the state police command, Okasanmi Ajayi, confirmed that the baby was discovered dead and had been taken to the mortuary.

He said the policemen who evacuated her from under the bridge had deposited the corpse at the morgue.

Reports said the abandoned new baby was bathed and fully kitted before it was dropped under the bridge.
