The importance of romance in a relationship

Romance  it’s exciting and fun and makes us feel good  so why don’t we do it more?
Romance is often overlooked as a key component of a healthy relationship, especially if we have been with someone for a long period of time.

We live busy and stressful lives so it’s common to find it hard to make time to be romantic, but without it the love can slowly start to demise.

Romance is about getting closer and reminding our loved one how much we value them and care for them. Many people put a lot of emphasis on sex in a relationship, but without romance the sex can start to feel less significant and even lose it’s appeal.

Much like other healthy practices like keeping fit, or meditating, romance needs to be kept a constant in order to reap the rewards, and it doesn’t have to take a lot of effort to keep it going. Small romantic gestures can be savored and will strengthen your bond.

If you feel a bit useless when it comes to romance and you’re not sure where to start, you may find that you already know more than you think.

We have all watched countless romantic movies or have read a few romance novels so even if that is all you base it on you have a good starting point.

It’s simply takes a little bit of motivation, the willingness to take a risk, and if you’re on the receiving end of a gesture, some appreciation for your partners efforts  even if they fall short! Romance is almost never perfect but it can still be fulfilling if we understand the intentions behind it.

If you really want to up your romance game you could consider reading a book on it. One particularly good book is “101 Nights Of Grrreat Romance” by Laura Corn, which has separate sections for “His eyes only” and “Her eyes only”. Or for more ideas you could pick up a copy of “1001 Ways To Be Romantic”, by Gregory J. P. Godek, to discover loads of little things you can do to make your partner feel loved and be inspired to return the favor.

But books aside, the best way to learn is to talk to your partner. Have a conversation about what turns him or her on, and you’ll know exactly what to do when you want to ignite a spark.

Also, remember what works for you may not work for them also, so by getting them to reveal their preferences means you can soon master the art of keeping your relationship sizzling, even with the smallest of gestures.

All it takes is effort, and you should try to engage in romance on a daily basis. Start with the small things, plan for the bigger things. Often it’s the smaller things that really count, so follow your heart and have faith that even just having the desire for romance is enough to get started, and let your creativity take it from there.

You might be amazed at how this transforms your relationship, and how envious your friends get when they see what they are missing out on!
