Ways to deal with a clingy girlfriend
1.Understand your part
To start dealing with your clingy lover, you need to first understand why is she acting like that. Because what you see as "needy" could be her way of expressing what she needs from you. If she keeps asking you to do something repeatedly or starts to act in a certain way, she lacks the attention or affection from you. This is why you need to think if you're spending less time with her or showing the same amount of affection as you did at the beginning of your relationship. If so, take subtle actions and show her some love and affection.
2.Have honest communication
If things are moving too fast for you, make it a point to tell her about that. It's very important to be on the same page. Your clingy girlfriend might be feeling for you stronger than you do for her, which is fine. This is why it is essential to communicate with her about where you are at. Let your girlfriend know how you feel as the relationship progresses.
3.Prioritize me-time
If you want some alone time or feel like your girlfriend is taking too much of your personal space, express it to her and tell her what you need. You need to talk to her about your priorities even if it's about spending some time alone. This way, your girlfriend will understand better and start respecting your me-time.
4.Set boundaries
Boundaries are very important in any type of relationship. Let's say you don't appreciate your girlfriend's text or calls too often while you're at work. Let her know and tell her that you will give her all the time once you're off of work. Also, be polite each time you try to explain to her about something. There's always a way to say things. And if you master that, no one can deny you what you want, not even your clingy girlfriend.
5.Be patient with your relationship
Every relationship has its flaws. Maybe your girlfriend is clingy now and a few months later you'll be the one needing her more and wanting to be close with her. Relationships are fluid and if you start believing that your partner is worth investing in, it will end up serving both of you to be patient and supportive of each other.
